Never EVER underestimate what could be hiding in plain sight.

AllThingsNerdyFloraleBlog Book Haul
Last month I posted on my Instagram about finding these beauties at my local thrift store. Books can be super expensive and if you’re a big reader like I am, you know the struggle is real. I tend to stick more to ebooks from Amazon or iBooks, they always have free books available. Or I stick to free reading apps like Wattpad. Being able to own a physical copy of a book is indescribable. Now, I’m slowly building my very own bookshelf. Something I didn’t think I would ever get to do. All because I decided to check out the book section of the thrift store. Never did I think I would find anything remotely interesting or worthy of being read. I will be the first to admit that I was wrong and to never EVER underestimate what could be hiding in plain sight. Lesson learned.🙌🏾

1. Marked (House of Night #1) by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.🔮

Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast - Book Haul allthingsnerdyfloraleblog
After a Vampyre Tracker Marks her with a crescent moon on her forehead, 16-year-old Zoey Redbird enters the House of Night and learns that she is no average fledgling. She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess Nyx and has affinities for all five elements: Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Spirit. But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school’s most elite club, is mis-using her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny – with a little help from her new vampyre friends (or Nerd Herd, as Aphrodite calls them)

Why I bought this: I’m a huge fan of the vampire genre. I’m curious to sink my teeth into the world that the authors have created. I mean a vampire with affinities of elements? Say what?! That’s sounds pretty cool.🌬🔥🌊🌎👻

2. The Hunt (The Hunt Trilogy #1) by Andrew Fukuna.⚔

The Hunt by Andrew Fukuna - Book Haul allthingsnerdyfloraleblog
Don’t Sweat. Don’t Laugh. Don’t draw attention to yourself. And most of all, whatever you do, do not fall in love with one of them. Gene is different from everyone else around him. He can’t run with lightning speed, sunlight doesn’t hurt him and he doesn’t have an unquenchable lust for blood. Gene is a human, and he knows the rules. Keep the truth a secret. It’s the only way to stay alive in a world of night—a world where humans are considered a delicacy and hunted for their blood. When he’s chosen for a once in a lifetime opportunity to hunt the last remaining humans, Gene’s carefully constructed life begins to crumble around him. He’s thrust into the path of a girl who makes him feel things he never thought possible—and into a ruthless pack of hunters whose suspicions about his true nature are growing. Now that Gene has finally found something worth fighting for, his need to survive is stronger than ever—but is it worth the cost of his humanity?

Why I bought this: Honestly the whole concept of The Hunger Games meets Vampires is what sold me on this book. My first thought was “intriguing”. I mean how does a human hide among vampires? Throw in some romance and I’m in.😍

3. The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins.🏹

Winning will make you famous.
Losing means certain death.

The nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America, is a country that consists of a wealthy Capitol region surrounded by 12 poorer districts. Early in its history, a rebellion led by a 13th district against the Capitol resulted in its destruction and the creation of an annual televised event known as the Hunger Games. In punishment, and as a reminder of the power and grace of the Capitol, each district must yield one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 through a lottery system to participate in the games. The ‘tributes’ are chosen during the annual Reaping and are forced to fight to the death, leaving only one survivor to claim victory.
When 16-year-old Katniss’s young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12’s female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives. , she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.

Why I bought this: I don’t think anyone could pass up the opportunity. Yes, I have seen the movie but I’ve never read any of the books. So why not start now.📚

4. Kissed by an Angel/The Power of Love/Soulmates (Kissed by an Angel #1-3) by Katherine Chandler.🌹

Kissed by an Angel Trilogy by Katherine Chandler - Book Haul allthingsnerdyfloraleblog
Kissed by an Angel: Ivy and Tristan have the love of a lifetime–until Tristan dies in a car accident. Now Tristan returns as an angel, but Ivy is unable to feel his presence.
The Power of Love: Tristan has learned that the person responsible for the car crash is after Ivy. Can he cross the boundaries of life and death to warn Ivy that she is in trouble?
Soulmates: Tristan must rescue Ivy, but if he does so his mission will be finished and he will have to leave his true love forever.

Why I bought this: Yeah I obviously didn’t realize this was actually a trilogy in one book.🙀 I really loved the cover and was automatically drawn to the plot. It gave me Ghost vibes, you know the 1990 movie starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.😍

5. If I Stay (If I Stay #1) by Gayle Forman.🎻

If I Stay by Gayle Forman - Book Haul allthingsnerdyfloraleblog
Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind?
Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it’s the only one that matters.
If I Stay is a heartachingly beautiful book about the power of love, the true meaning of family, and the choices we all make.

Why I bought this: Originally I wasn’t going to but I really loved the movie so I have no doubts that the book will be that much better.👻

🔅I can’t wait to start reading and sharing my thoughts about these books.📚
